Coedwig Crafts

Vicky is the crafter behind the creation of Coedwig Crafts. 

Although having no formal qualifications in craft I started crafting about 10 years ago as 'something to do' whilst my baby was asleep in bed in the evening. Having this time where I was essentially housebound in the evening I discovered a love of craft and a passion for learning new crafts. I quickly developed my repertoire, finding a love of making beautiful items with my hands. I loved seeing peoples faces light up when I gave them something specifically made for them, by me. Knowing the time, effort and thought that had gone into the making of that gift was something so special. I also adored finding new crafts to try.

Several years ago one of my close friends took me to WoodClub, an amazing group of people in North Wales who make hand crafted wooden items and a new passion was ignited. I was immediately fascinated with hand carving traditional Welsh Love Spoons. Whilst I was initially happy making designs out of books I was asked to do a truly unique one for a friends anniversary, which incorporated their love of Sunflowers which had featured heavily at their wedding. Faced with my crafty challenge I designed, carved and produced a beautiful totally unique Love Spoon. The friend for whom the spoon had been made was chuffed to  bits and I discovered that I also loved making spoons that were designed specifically for individuals. Since then I have designed and made numerous unique Love Spoons for a range of occassions, each customer thrilled with their handmade gift.

Having come from a family of teachers, I swore I would never be one, but whilst doing my crafts I discovered not only did I adore teaching others how to do the craft, I was also quite good at it. And so, the workshops were added. Since starting my business I have run hundreds of workshops covering a huge variety of crafts including (but not limited to): Pyrography, slate and glass etching, willow weaving (baskets, obelisks and bird feeders), jewellery making, broom making, needle felting, macrame, candle making, Christmas decorations - pyrography and felt, Love Spoon carving, wreath making and more!

Thus Coedwig Crafts was born!
